Everybody seems to be pretty dead out there in LJ land today. Granted, it is a monday, but I think this is the slowest I've ever seen my friends list.

To alleviat my boredome I'm going to talk about shows I used to watch as a kid. Actually, I think I'm just going to list them. The following should show you all how a) I grew up with cable in the golden age of Nickelodeon and b) I watched way too much tv growing up.
Shows I Enjoyed Watching When I Was Younger
  • Danger Mouse
  • Banana Man
  • Inspector Gadget
  • Some crazy ass animated thing with space pirates as the bad guys and a guy who sorta looked like Jesus as the hero
  • David the Gnome
  • Pinwheel
  • Salute your Shorts
  • Hey Dude
  • Saved by the Bell (including "Good Morning Miss Bliss")
  • Rocko's Modern Life
  • Doug
  • Ren and Stimpy
  • The Smurfs
  • My Little Pony
  • The Wuzzles
  • The Little Koala
  • Are You Afraid of the Dark
  • You Cant Do That On Television
  • Turkey TV
  • Out Of Control
  • Jem
  • Darkwing Duck
  • THe Gummi Bears
  • TailSpin
  • Chip And Dale Rescue Rangers
  • Duck Tales
So yeah - that's my wasted childhood right there. What's REALLY sad is that I remember the theme song to about half of these word for word.

What were your favorite shows growing up? Points will be awarded to the most obscure or just plain weird.

You liked Hey Dude?! That was my favorite. Have we had this conversation before? We were living only a few miles apart, both pretending that our bikes were horses at the Bar None and our little brothers were Ted (oh wait, maybe that was just me...)

My other favorite show as a kid was Swans Crossing. Teen soap opera starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. So bad, yet so good.
I think that may have just been you...but I did enjoy the show. Scary to think that one of those characters grew up and married Ben Stiller.

And speaking of baaaaaaaaaaaaad soap operas, did you ever watch "Fifteen" on nick? It was their soap opera with alcoholic teens and everything.
Oh yeah, I loved Fifteen. The only plotline I seem to remember was the alcoholic one.

Ahh! I just had this weird flash of a memory from that show, of the character Ashley. I think it was her brother that was the alcoholic. Anyway, a quick trip to imdb confirmed that she was Marie on the second season of 24! Eee. Anyway. I need to go home now. This comment probably makes no sense to anyone but me.
no no, it was her boyfriend (Jake?) that was the alcoholic! :)

The Snorks!!
OMG the Snorks! They were totally just Smurfs underwater :-P
I thought they were the snorkels ... my bad. I wasn't allowed to watch you can't do that on TV - so of course i loved it. My faves as a kid were He-man and Transformers and GI Joe - and i lived in a neighborhood full of boys can you tell?
LOL How could I have forgotten HeMan and SheRa? Those were GREAT!

YCDTOTV was fabulous. I miss it so.
She-Ra? I thjought her name was "She-Man" for eons. Personally, I loved the guy whose body just had guns in it. LIke his stomach had guns, his arms came out as guns, and I thin maybe his package had a gun in it too.
Some crazy ass animated thing with space pirates as the bad guys and a guy who sorta looked like Jesus as the hero

I SO rememeber that show. . . .I loved the comic sidekick. He played a guitar and the the weapon fired like a stream of music notes. He was like a hippy and whatnot, and years later he reminded me of Nomad. in a cowboy hat.

And i've seen almost all of these TV shows, and I So wanted to bang Nerd Tori Spelling when she was screech's girlfriend.
I watched a lot of the shows on your list, but my favorite show growing up, and it still is, was I Love Lucy. Lucille Ball is amazing :)
Anything on the Disney Afternoon, which I think you have all of on your list. I was particularly a fan of "Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers," and was highly amused when my mother told me what went on at the similarly named "Chippendales." I was a deprived child, I didn't have cable and thus couldn't watch Nickelodeon.

One I liked that's not on your list: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the cartoon more than the movies...I refused to like it in 2nd grade because all the boys in my class did, but I watched it one fateful Saturday morning and was hooked)
OMG! How could I have forgotton TMNT!?!? Even my mother LOVED that show!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; animated versions of Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer and occasionally Iron Man. Live action versions of Spider-Man, Batman, Wonderwoman, and the Incredible Hulk.

Do I get bonus points now?
*chuckles* you get points and now we all know why you're a comic book junkie ;)
I still say it's all in the genes. Both my parents are giant nerds. My dad was a comic book nerd for a good portion of his life and both of them, more my mom than dad, are big sci-fi dorks. It's genetic I tell you! Genetic!
LOL well Im a nerd too - for my 3rd grade birthday party I brought my dad in to read the class my favorite greey myths.
