1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Bought a condo and attended a Cake concert

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Well, I didn’t get published this year, but I did submit my stories to 3 different places, so at least I’m trying. However, this year I didn’t write anything new – so my resolution is to write at least 3 new stories.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! We welcomed into the family 2 new babies! Gibson and Isabella

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not that I know of...

5. What countries did you visit?
Just the good ol’ US of A

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
I would like to have a story published, and to host more parties.

7. What date(s) from 2004 will remain etched your memory, and why?
Oh lordy, there’s a BUNCH of them!
May 24th, the day I closed on my condo
Memorial Day, the weekend I moved into my condo
June 4th, the day I was fired from Gopher State
July 28th, the day I started at Omni Resources
August 14th, a REALLY awesome house warming party
October 23rd, my first ever Cake concert
November 2nd, working as an election official
November 12th, dinner with Neil Gaiman
Thanksgiving, the first ever family thanksgiving held at a child’s own house

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Actually SUBMITTING my stories to magazines and starting the process.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Well, getting fired from Gopher State…but that wasn’t TOO bad…

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A few colds and a bout with stomach flu (or food poisoning, we don’t know)

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My condo =)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
A LOT of people!

Steph and Matt for getting married
Adam and Kaela, Lori and Neville for getting engaged
My brother Erik for doing well at Sea Trials
My brother Tom for buying his own condo
Brian and Kelly for getting their own apt

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
None that I can really think of…

14. Where did most of your money go?
My condo and some really frivolous stuff that I HAVE to cut down on this year (better make that a resolution…)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Buying my condo, my house warming party, and Fiddlers Green/Dinner with Neil Gaiman

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2004?
“Wanderlust” by Delays or “One Horse Town”

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? MUCH happier!
ii. thinner or fatter? A little bit thinner, actually, but not much
iii. richer or poorer? Definitely Richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Write – I didn’t finish a single new story all year long. Rather depressing, actually.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Eat, I suppose.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I will drive up to Duluth once again where I will spend Christmas with my parents and my grandmother.

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Not at all.

23. How many one-night stands?
One, but I really don’t think it counts.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
America’s Next Top Model, Lost, Joan of Arcadia, The Simpsons, and Arrested Development.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not at all.

26. What was the best book you read?
Oh lordy, I read so much this year…the George RR Martin series is great, so is Thursday Next. Going Postal I REALLY enjoyed, along with The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Clay.

27. What was/were your greatest musical discoveries? The Shins and Delays

28. What did you want and get? A condo and some peace of mind.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? Garden State. Hands down.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 23 and…um…I don’t remember what I did. I hung storm windows I think.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Once again, getting published. But really – this was a VERY good year for me.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
At first it was just plain clothes, and now it’s become office casual.

34. What kept you sane?
Friends, LJ, and the movie Garden State.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
DOM!! DOM DOM DOM!!!!!!!
And, as always, Neil Gaiman.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election, really, and just how nasty both sides were.

37. Who did you miss?
I missed my brothers, and some folks at SNC, but really, I think I stayed in pretty good contact with most folks.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Duh – I MET Neil Gaiman. Awesomeness.
But really, I met a lot of new people over LJ and that has been A LOT of fun =)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
To quote Avenue Q, “I don’t have the time to waste on you any more. I don’t think that you even know what you’re looking for. For my own sanity I’ve got to close the door and walk away.”
