Seriously, they probably were raised with a banana and an inner tube.

They are canceling Arrested Development AND Kitchen Confidential - two shows that I have been watching since the start of the season. Two shows that have gotten rave reviews. Two shows that are SMART and FUNNY. Obviously they are too smart for the knuckle dragging masses because fox has canceled them.

Of course, it didn't really HELP that for about a MONTH I couldn't watch my shows because fox decided to take a strangle hold on the baseball monopoly, fucking up my monday night enjoyment (by the way - fox's coverage of baseball SUCKS).

Now, some of you might say I invest too much into TV, but really, some shows are worth watching. Of course, these are the shows that get canceled. Fuckers.
That sucks! I liked both those shows as well. It's amazing how smart, funny shows get cancelled while we're on like, the fifth season of things like According to Jim.
I know! Good shows get the axe and then mindless drivel remains on the air for YEARS! Seriously - who watches that crap?

I may start having to boycott TV, which would be good, but sad because there are some intellegent shows...or, rather, there were...
I think Arrested Dev was definitely on the downtick this season. Better to kill it now and remember it fondly.
Maybe they were just in a slump - they could have pulled out of the slump. Every new show is allowed a season of slack (as long as it's before season five) to make mistakes.
NASCAR and witty programming do not mix.
so true...too bad nobody's told that to Fox...Do you think they even WATCH their own network?
They didn't even warn for the pre-empting of Kitchen Confidential. I just turned on the tv one Monday night and it wasn't there. It being fox I assumed it had been cancelled. Those bastards, but there was no official notice of cancellation. Dare I hope? Then I see it, a tv spot for new episodes. A ray of hope shines through and you just deflected it with a well placed mirror. I hope you're happy with yourself.

Kitchen Confidential is the first sitcom I've wanted to watch on a regular basis since I was old enough to choose what to watch. Why does Fox always screw over the good shows? How are the people in charge still the people in charge?
They've hacked out half of the shows for the remainder of the season. Perhaps, if people rally together and spread the good news of the show, maybe it'll survive.

I knew FOX sucked when they cancelled The Tick. And Firefly.

This...this is just more data for the already well-supported conclusion.
Or as it was put on Family Guy:

Peter: Everybody I've got bad news. We've been cancelled.
Lois: Oh no Peter! How could they do that?
Peter: Well unfortuantely Lois, there's just no more room on the schedule. We just gotta accept the fact that FOX has to make room for terrific shows like Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That 80's Show, Wonder Falls, Fast Lane, Andy Richter Controls The Universe, Skin, Girl's Club, Cracking Up, The Pitts, Firefly, Get Real, Freaky Links, Wanda At Large, Costello, The Lone Gunman, A Minute with Stan Hooper, Normal Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddy, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric The Entertainer, The Tick, Louie, And Greg The Bunny....
Lois: Is there no hope?
Peter: Well I suppose if ALL those shows go down the tubes we might have a shot.
Hmm...I don't remember that...
But AD and KC weren't pulling their weight in the ratings dept. Rave reviews are one thing, but SMART and FUNNY doesn't pay the bills.
No, but UK-like licensing fees do.

But they didn't give KC any TIME to build a fan base! A month into the season they prempted it for baseball, with no warning or anything. Just POOF! no more show, and now they are cancelling it.

Fox gives up on shows waaaaaaay too easily. It's sad and annoying.
Fox (and network television in general) has a history of canceling some of their best shows, but that's the way television works. If a show pulls in fewer viewers after winning an Emmy, there isn't much more the network can do about it. Considering the writing and the cast, Arrested Development might be too expensive for a station like Comedy Central to pick up, but I could see HBO or Showtime buying it. I've never watched Kitchen Confidential, so I can't say anything about that.

As for the month of October, Fox has a contract with Major League Baseball to show the playoffs. I was glad that this year they had their season premieres at the beginning of September, instead of after the World Series, as in years past. Other networks either start their seasons later or show reruns in October anyway, so don't worry that you missed any episodes. And you're right, Fox's baseball coverage is mind-blowingly bad.
