And if I die today I'll be the happy phantom
And I'll go chasing the nuns out in the yard
And I'll run naked through the streets without my mask on
And I will never need umbrellas in the rain
I'll wake up in strawberry fields every day
And the atrocities of school I can forgive
The happy phantom has no right to bitch
oo who
The time is getting closer
oo who
Time to be a ghost
oo who
Every day we're getting closer
The sun is geting dim
Will we pay for who we've been

So if I die today I'll be the happy phantom
And I'll go wearin' my naughties like a jewel
They'll be my ticket to the universal opera
There's Judy Garland taking Budda by the hand
And then these seven little men get up to dance
They say Confucius does his crossword with a pen
I'm still the angel to a girl who hates to sin

oo who
The time is getting closer
oo who
Time to be a ghost
oo who
Every day we're getting closer
The sun is geting dim
Will I pay for who I've been

Or will I see you dear and wish I could come back
You found agfirl that you could truly love again
WIll you still call for me when she falls asleep
Or do we soon forget the things we cannot see

oo who
The time is getting closer
oo who
Time to be a ghost
oo who
Every day we're getting closer
The sun is geting dim
Will I pay for who I've been

Yay, this song and "Winter" are the two that drew me to Tori Amos fan-dom in the first place. Little Earthquakes really rocks my socks...and Boys for Pele rocks them twice as hard. I should own all of her albums...I'm ashamed to confess that I only have the aforementioned two and Strange Little Girls.
I'm more ashamed to say that I don't own any of her albums, just scattered mp3s (but then, I don't own alot of CDs in general, just scattered mp3s).

If I was to make a soundtrack that was to describe my life, this would most definitely be on it.

Hmmm, that's a project, created a soundtrack for your life....like if your whole life was a movie (mine would be a monsterous box office flop, worse than 1941) what songs would you pick to be on the album? You have 16 songs tops....
Oh man, it would have to be a double album. No way could sixteen do it. But there would definitely be some Beatles tunes on there, some Counting Crows, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Tori Amos, Silverchair, Pete Yorn...at the end of 2001 I put together a soundtrack of twelve songs that described the year...one song for every month of 2001. I should do that every December.

What would be on your "life soundtrack"?

(Yeah, most of the music I have these days is in the free MP3 format.)
I'm totally gonna have to mull over it, and it'll probably end up as a journal entry and a challenge to my readers...but Happy Phantom for sure, probably Love you Madly by Cake (because Cake is MY band), Joan Baez would be there, same with the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, and lordy, now I have to think this through.....and something by John Williams and Danny Elfman

I totally dig your idea of doing a musical year in review. That's totally something that you can keep and show your grandkids (asuming a. you want grandkids b. the world will not have been destoryed by then and c. we will still be able to play CDs).
